Although we don’t call ourselves real birders, we are increasingly obsessed in documenting the different birds we see and hear in and around our plantation.
We are also on a mission to protect the birds in and around our plantation and educate the village’s farmers that birds in the wild are worth more than the ones caught for the bird trade. We do this for instance by catering to bird watchers and photographers, who start to discover our place. We are also releasing barn owls in our valley, hoping they will help reducing the rat population and increasing yield from the surrounding rice fields.
We have a few proper Bird Hides in our plantation, where we also feed the birds regularly. An increasing number of bird species now stay in the area and are relative easy to see from the hides, at least most of the times.

West Bali National Park
One of the most popular bird watching places near to us is the West Bali National Park. Here a selection of the most commonly seen birds there. I took all these photos on a single day, just to give you an idea of how rich the area is!
