Sanda is located in the district of Pupuan, along one of the roads connecting north and south Bali. This generally excellent road connects Soka Beach in the south and Seririt in the North. It’s a very scenic road, twisting through plantations, small traditional villages and some of Bali’s most spectacular rice fields and leading over the western slopes of Mount Batukaru, Bali’s second highest mountain.
Sanda is 20 kilometers and about 25 minutes driving from the turn-off from the southern road connecting Gilimanuk and Denpasar, and about an hour from Seririt. From the airport it is 69 kilometers and takes about 2 – 2.5 hours, depending on time of the day.
The road to Sanda is very good, and very scenic. From the centre of Sanda a small concrete road leads into a valley, and from there it is about 600 meters via a traditional two-track concrete road. This “plantation road” is fairly narrow and is not suitable for cars with a relative wide wheel-basis. Cars such as Avanza, Terios, Rush and APV can get to our place though.
In case your car is too wide for the road you can park your car within about 600 meters from our plantation, and you will certainly enjoy the walk to our place. Alternatively we can organize a car locally to get to and from the plantation, or pick you up on a motorbike.
If you have doubts, please ask us in advance!
Yes we do. Most of the time. As there is no cable internet available yet we use a wireless modem. We have one in the Wani Tent and one near the Durian Tents. Signal is usually quite decent, but subject to weather conditions. But hey, if you come here, Wifi shouldn’t be that important…?! Enjoy the environment!
Yes we do. We offer a limited choice of mostly excellent and often unique local dishes, which are prepared by the local community as well as Mega, who has grown into a serious cook! Some dishes you won’t find anywhere else in Bali!
For breakfast we usually serve fresh home-made bread, fresh fruit and juice and yoghurt with muesli, complemented with some local delicacies.
For beverages we have limited choice, but we do have a variety of tea, (local!) coffee, fresh fruit juice (for breakfast), soft drink, beer and on request local wine and arak.
We are in a plantation, we are in nature. That comes with bugs and other insects and critters. We love that, and discover new critters every day, some very unique ones..! We do take precautions to keep accommodation clean, but in open spaces insects and other critters are a common sight.
If you cannot stand insects and the likes at all then this is perhaps not the right place for you…?!
Actually not many at all and often none..! There are fewer mosquitoes in our area compared to most other parts in Bali, due to the cooler climate and because all water in the area is flowing and comes fresh from the mountain springs. Mosquitoes do not like to breed in this type of water. In the Wani Tent we provide 100% natural insect repellent, but many of our guests rarely find the need to use this.
During the rainy season there are sometimes mosquitoes where vegetation is thick and when humidity is high, particularly early morning and late afternoon, but usually less than almost anywhere else in Bali.
No we don’t. Simply because this is not necessary with our climate. During the day it rarely gets above 30 degrees celsius, while in the evening and at night temperatures drop to a very pleasant 18 to 22 degrees, and sometimes it simply gets cold. Lowest temperature we’ve measured is 16 degrees… Brrr…. Bring a sweater! We provide sufficient blankets and a fan in the Wani Tent, which may sometimes be useful during the day.
It depends how old they are, and on you. We love kids, and love to have them stay with us. The Wani Tent is located a little inside the plantation, and you’ll have to walk a couple of stairs down to get there. The tent’s terrace is 4 meters above the ground, and does not have a child-safe fence around it. Very small kids can therefore not be left out of sight. We therefore generally accommodate up to 2 adults in the tent, but if you would like to bring a child let us know in advance, so we can discuss. Also check out the photos of the Wani Tent! Our youngest guest was 5 months old, and had a blast!
Our Tangi Wooden House is easier to walk to, but its terrace is about 2 meters above the paved ground, with no fence.
Yes you can, but we need advanced notice. It is usually not possible to rent a motorbike or a car with driver last minute.
Yes we do, but we need advanced notice. There are no cars with drivers readily available at any time.
